Burrageara Nelly Isler

Did you know…

Burragearas have the most wonderful scent!

Burragearas are frequently seen for sale in the high street especially the cultivar “Nelly Isler”. They do not exist in the wild as they are complex man-made hybrids created from crossing four orchid genera (Cochlioda x Miltonia x Odontoglossum x Oncidium). This inter-generic mix was bred specifically to create an orchid suitable for growing as a house plant. It grows in standard orchid growing media and has an intensely sharp citrus fragrance.

Temperature

Intermediate. Night temperatures approximately 12° to 14° C with a daytime rise of about 10° C.

Light

Moderate.

Watering

Plentiful during the summer then reduced in winter. Avoid spraying water on the leaves as this genus is prone to fungal leaf-spotting. It sometimes often produces crinkled leaves if it is irregularly watered or if humidity is low.

Feeding

Average.
